Pelosi says: Whip it good, to hell with the constitution

When a reporter asked Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi if she will be “whipping” her fellow House members (on the health care vote), Ms Pelosi replied:

"..I never stop whipping..”

Pelosi added:

“..There is no beginning, there's no middle and there's no end..” (To the whipping.)

Ouch. Why did we give Ms Pelosi the whip..??





Democrats turned Dennis Kucinich (Ohio) and Dale Kildee (Michigan) into YES votes this week, however could they still be 9 votes short..??

The Health Care Bill, (yes, I refuse to call it “health reform” because it has no public option and nothing in the bill will lower the cost of what insurance companies can charge you, so where is the “reform”..??)



This Bill is beginning to remind me of one of those monster movies in which everyone thinks that the evil beast is dead. Everyone turns their backs on the beast, and the monster rises up to kill again.



Such is the way of the Health Bill.

One minute we are told that the House does NOT have enough votes to pass it. The next minute we are told that they have the votes.

However, they may not even NEED votes, (those silly little old fashion things.)

Speaker Pelosi has not ruled out a using a procedure called: “Self- Executing Rule.”



(Or, as republicans are calling it: “The Slaughter Rule.” NOTE- republicans only call it that when democrats use it.)

What this procedure entails is that because the Senate passed their version of health care- 60 yea, 40 nay; and the House passed a similar bill, the House can just “pretend” that they signed the Senate version (without actually voting on it) and hand the Senate version to the president to sign, with a few amendments.

What’s the BEEF..??

Democrats claim that this method is used all the time.

Republicans claim that this is unconstitutional.

As usual, both are wrong, and both are right. (They are just not telling you the whole truth.)

Republicans were the ones who actually created this method (Self- Executing Rule) way back in the 1930's.

However, it has NEVER been used for something this BIG, which would affect every American, and force people to BUY a consumer product.

This procedure, which has been used by both parties, is probably unconstitutional.

(Why do I say “probably unconstitutional”..??)

OK, to simplify, (I am very good at “simple”) by LAW, congress MUST pass a federal budget. It is unconstitutional for congress to NOT pass a federal budget. So if that first republican congress (in 1933) used the “Self- Executing Rule” to raise the national debt limit to get a federal budget passed, then it would be constitutional. (Because they MUST pass a budget.)

Here is where it gets tricky; to say that this procedure is unconstitutional, you would have to know the “intent” of that congress, in using this procedure. Was congress just trying to pass a HUGE bill filled with pork projects? OR did the national debt limit need to be raised for the benefit and safety of all the states?

OK, I am NOT a constitutional scholar, so I am going to drop that debate.

However, I am not sure that you could argue that a Health Bill, WHICH (most aspects) WILL NOT TAKE EFFECT FOR 4 YEARS, would be considered “urgent.”



If all of the benefits of this Bill were to take effect immediately, and you could prove that Americans were dying if you did not act NOW, then you could say that it is urgent, and use this procedure. (Self- Executing Rule.) However, the simple fact that democrats took one year fighting over the details in this bill proves that it wasn’t “urgent.”

So, to recap: it is unconstitutional for the democrats to use this procedure to pass health care. The only time you should ever use this procedure is to get a federal budget passed, in the event that congress is in a deadlock over a budget.

Yes, the republicans have used the Self- Executing Rule in the wrong manner before, but never for something this big.

Two wrongs do not make a right.



So, the image I get from this story, (aside from the mental picture of Nancy Pelosi in S & M gear, whipping her boys into shape) is that congress no longer wants to take part in the “governing process.”

So why do we need the House of Representatives..??

I mean, if the House does not want to vote on something so important as health care, why should we have them?



We all have computers, why do we need to send someone to Washington in our behalf..??

Yes, I am making a point in a humorous fashion, however; if the House does not want to vote on the BIG issues, like health care; why do we need them anymore..??

We can easily set up a computer data base and we can represent ourselves. Whenever a Bill comes up for vote, we could give ourselves a week to read over the Bill, think about it, and then vote.

Gone would be all this crap with our representatives trying to GUESS what “we the people want?”

“...60 % of Americans polled do not care for this bill..” Oh yea, well “...75 % of Americans believe that something MUST be done..”

Just take a look at this latest poll result:



This is all crap.

Give us the Bill, we will vote on it.

Now, before you say: “..Hey AR, you are talking about changing our representative government into a pure democracy..”

Hold on a minute...

We would still leave the Senate in place. The president’s job would not change. The only change would be that “we” would become our representatives.

Think of the money that we would save:

Speaker Nancy Pelosi- $223,000 per year.

Rank-and-file members of the House receive about $70,000 per year. (It can vary.)

We have about 290 retired members of congress each receiving about $60,000 per year- FOREVER.

And we have about 123 retired congress people receiving $36,000 per year, until they die.

All members, past and present, have great benefits.

We could save millions, upon millions of dollars by getting rid of the House of Representatives, and our voices would be heard.



Of course I am joking here, but my joke is based on a belief that I have had for some time.

If I had to pick one area of our government that is screwed up the most, I would pick the House of Representatives.

The founding fathers had meant for the House to be made up of people like you and me. It was never intended to be filled with career politicians. The Senate was the place for career politicians.

Today, we have people who graduate from college after studying political science and public speaking; they take a job with one of the political parties for a few years. Then maybe they run for a local office and hold that for a few years. Their next target is the House of Representatives. They have NEVER held a “real” job. They do not understand the needs of our community.

Ultimately, it is our fault for putting these people in office. We just do not take the time to learn who these people are. Because of this, the House is manned by “carpetbaggers” who have never held a real job, (outside of politics), and they have no idea what we need.

So, if the House decides to use the Self- Executing Rule so that they do not have to vote on the issue of health care, then we should just get rid of the House. Why do we need them..??

But if the House realizes that the health bill is too big an issue to side-step the constitution, then I say give them another chance.

Is everything today, negative..??

Just look at these recent news stories...

Late Friday evening, Speaker of the House- Nancy Pelosi announced that the Public Option is DEAD for the Health Bill.

New York City is contemplating whether to ban table salt from all city restaurants. Many of us Americans are still in withdrawal from the banning of trans-fats in restaurants. (There’s nothing better than a “freedom fry” cooked in synthetic lard. What’s that big deal? There is a hospital around each corner, chuck full of artery stints.)



Texas, (our last hope of freedom) has removed Thomas Jefferson as a teaching standard in school books. And, to throw a little salt into the wound, (salt, that New York City might be banning) Texas schools will no longer refer to the USA as having a “capitalistic system”, (it’s just too negative.) From now on, Texas school books will call America’s economic system- “free enterprise.” (FREE..?? Try opening a business. There is nothing “FREE” about the enterprise system in America. Capitalism is the better word.) However, the Texas school system has decided to add education on Judeo- Christian influences on the founding fathers. (That should piss progressives off, if nothing else?)



There is talk about the government wanting to end recreational fishing (and commercial fishing) in American waters. Shoreline waters and inland waters; including the Great Lakes, might no longer allow recreational fishing.

And if many global warming people had their way, you would be told what size car you can drive, how warm (or cool) you could keep your house, what you can eat, and when you are legally allowed to pass gas.



Yes folks, I know...

It would seem that this time in which we live in is filled with negative ideas.

How can anyone be happy upon hearing about all the things that they can NO LONGER do..??

However, there is HOPE in all this CHANGE.

You might remember Barack Obama talking about the Bill of Rights when he was running for president? Remember Obama explaining how the Bill of Rights is a negative document, filled with stuff that people CANNOT do.



President Obama has talked about the need for a NEW Bill of Rights which would be positive. This new Bill of Rights would talk about all the things that you have a “Right to do.”



Well, here at The Angry Republic, we have inside people who got a hold of a draft copy of the NEW Bill of Rights, and I would like to share it with you, today.

(This is so exciting..!! I love having an exclusive..!!)



The NEW American Bill of Rights

Article 1

You have the right to other people’s “stuff.”

Life is unfair, and some people have MORE “stuff” than you do. To make life more fair, you now have the right to take your neighbor’s stuff. (NOTE) The framers of this Bill had thought about allowing you to go to your neighbor’s house and take the stuff that you feel that you deserve. However, it would be difficult to tell who is a thief, and who is exercising their constitutional right to take “stuff.” Therefore, we will continue with the current taxation system that is in place. (ALSO NOTE) If you look around your neighborhood and you have MORE STUFF than your neighbors do, then you are excluded from this Right.

Article 2

You have the Right to have free health insurance.

(NOTE) You do NOT have a right to FREE Health Insurance if we (the government) believe that you make too much money, or we do not like you, or some glitch takes place in the government computer system.



Article 3

(NOTE) Article 3 is being left blank at this time. In the future, when democrats need votes to win an election, they will suggest that “Americans have a Right to FREE food.” Democrats will tell Americans that 100,000 people die everyday because they didn’t have FREE government food. When gullible Americans elect the democrats, Article 3 will be offered. FREE government food.



Article 4

(NOTE) Article 4 is being left blank at this time. Future democrats will need a way to win elections. Democrats will tell people that every American “has a Right to FREE housing.” Then, after you have elected the democrats, they will spend several years fighting with each other over the details of Article 4, (just like with the current Health Care Bill) and some piss-poor, watered down version will appear here, in the future.



Article 5

You have the Right to have pride.

Every American has a right to be proud. If a person says anything that makes you “feel bad” about yourself, that person will be jailed for one year. During incarceration, the “pride killing” criminal will be subjected to sensibility counseling and forced to watch the movie: “All about Steve”, featuring Sandra Bullock. (NOTE) Article 5 does not end free speech in America. However, if you choose to use free speech, you could go to jail, IF; any other person “feels bad” after you spoke, and; providing that they have a better lawyer than you do.



Article 6

You have a Right to work.

It is unfair that some people have a job and others do not. It is unfair that some people have better jobs, and other people cook hamburgers. By taking down everyone from those “high levels” in employment, we can make the bottom level jobs seem better than what they actually are.

People will “feel” better.

With the health care bill, we can attack doctors and nurse’s paychecks and lower them under the guise of “saving the taxpayer’s money”, or we will call it: “health reform.” We have already gone after business executive’s high pay using guilt and high taxation. The rest of you “high earners”, we are coming for you. (NOTE) Article 6 does not include lawyers and people working in Hollywood. Since you folks usually vote democrat, you are free to earn as much as you like.



(ALSO NOTE) Article 6 only applies to people who “want to work.” If you do not want to work, stay home and refer to Articles 1, 2, 3, 4, and 8.

Article 7

You have a Right to win.

Everyone wants to win.

Unfortunately, most of you poor bastards will spend your entire life losing. You will lose at the casino, and you will never win a lottery. Your luck will not be any better with sports, you will lose races, football games, tennis; you will lose virtually everything that you hold dear in life.

This is a sad prospect, and it makes one wonder why you poor bastards keep breathing?

To counter this emotion, the government will enact the National Lottery.

The “National Lottery” is free to everyone who is standing within the USA borders, and everyone will win- something.

To be entered into the National Lottery, all you have to do is show up at any of the thousands of National Lottery locations and allow us to implant a small tracking.. (aaahh, computer chip) into your skull. This computer chip is completely harmless, and bears the markings of 666 on it’s cover. This computer chip will allow the government to find you and give you your lottery prize when you win, and the government will be able to track where you go, who you hang around with, and what type of “stuff” that you are reading. (For your own safety.)

Every minute, 8 people will win a lottery prize. This means that within 70 years, everyone in America will win this lottery. So you will be a winner, eventually. (NOTE) if you die early in life, you might not win the lottery, in which case you will probably not care about this lottery; being that you are dead.)

Prizes range from a potato peeler, to an autographed copy of President Obama’s new book: “The Greatest President EVER”.



Or you could win an all expense paid trip (for one) to Intercourse Pennsylvania, the heart of Amish Country.

Article 8

You have the Right to sit in your house and keep your f**king mouth shout.

Let face it, every time that you leave your house, you cause the streets to be over crowded, you pollute the earth, and you are always demanding things like “Rights.”

It would be much better for everyone if you would just stay home.

Article 8 states that you have the right to stay home and isolate yourself, cutting yourself off from the rest of society as a whole. The government will take care of (food, clothing, shelter) anyone who chooses to exercise their constitutional rights under Article 8. However, if you venture outside of your house, or make contact with anyone; you will lose your Article 8 rights. (NOTE) Article 8 does not apply to lawyers, democrat politicians, or Hollywood celebrities; who are free to roam around the planet and speak their minds.



Article 9

You have the Right to be right.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. You should also have the same rights as a broken clock.

Every American will have two chances to be right, no matter how wrong they are. Facts be dammed, the truth is unimportant. You will be right- twice. However, once you have used up your two “rights”, you will go back to being wrong. (NOTE) Hollywood Actors, lawyers, and Labor Union leaders are excluded from Article 9, because they donate millions of dollars to the Democrat Party.



This concludes the NEW Bill of Rights. (That is, until the 2012 election, when democrats will need to get your vote. God only knows how many MORE Rights may be added to this Bill of Rights if democrats are trailing in the 2012 election.)

If one person has a RIGHT to something he did not earn, of necessity it requires that another person not have a right to something that he did earn.

True rights, such as those in our Constitution, or those considered to be natural or human rights, exist simultaneously among people. That means exercise of a right by one person does not diminish those held by another. In other words, my rights to speech or travel impose no obligations on another except those of non-interference.

For Congress to guarantee a right to health care, or any other good or service, whether a person can afford it or not, it must diminish someone else’s rights, namely their rights to their earnings.

The Constitution is not a suicide pact



We were knee deep into the middle of the Bush Presidency. We were being attacked from the Left and Right, (but mostly from the Left...)

“...How can we suspend habeas corpus rights to the terrorists? We have not declared war on these people. They are not prisoners of war. And what about Bush’s Patriot Act with illegal wire taps? Bush is NOT following the constitution. He needs to be impeached...”

I was one of the many people who told the liberals: “The US Constitution is not a suicide pact.”

The US Constitution is worth dying for.

However, it was never meant for you to die BECAUSE of the Constitution.

I find myself using that phrase again, (The US Constitution is not a suicide pact) however, this time I am using this phrase with our friends in the Tea Party movement, with libertarians, and some conservatives.

First off, what does that phrase really mean?

I am going to let President Thomas Jefferson explain it, because he wrote much of the Constitution, and I think that he can explain it best:

“...Strict observance of the written law is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation.

To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the LAW itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the ends to the means...”

Thomas Jefferson (spoken after charges that Jefferson didn’t follow the Constitution in the purchase of the Louisiana Territory.)

Fact of the matter is; no US president, (or congress) has ever fully followed the Constitution to the letter, including the founding fathers.

To point a finger at Jefferson, or Lincoln, or FDR, or George Bush, is hypocritical because NO PRESIDENT has ever followed that poor document, line by line.

OK, how does all of this play into modern times..??

Today, we have a group of people on the Right who will condemn Republican candidates if they have done anything, or voted in any way, in what they deem is an “unconstitutional manner.”

These people will push for third party candidates, in an attempt to right what they perceive is a wrong. But they will give the victory to the democrats.



Here is the way that I view this, (if anyone cares.) The US Constitution is the greatest document on how to run a country. However, as Jefferson said, there are times that you must sidestep the written law to protect the country and it’s people.

Claiming to support third party candidates because you believe that republicans have lost their way, is your right. However, it is the best way to insure that democrats will win.



Now, if you are wise...

If you are using the “threat of a third party” to shape up the republican candidate in your area. That’s great.

Or if the third party candidate in your area is miles ahead of everyone else, you are doing the right thing, and I might join you. We need to rein in federal spending. We need to stop this health bill. (Aahh, health REFORM bill, as the democrats are calling it.)



But, keep in mind that in many areas of the country, a third party will give the win to the democrats.

CASE IN POINT

The Senate race in Nevada is a prime example of the point that I am trying to make.



Harry Reid should lose his Senate bid in 2010. In my opinion, Sen. Reid is the worst Senate Majority Leader that I have ever seen in my lifetime.

Reid WILL LOSE to one of the three republican candidates who will oppose him in 2010. (That is unless a third party screws things up.)

Let me prove it to you.

Rasmussen Poll (Mar 3 2010)

Sue Lowden (republican)- Ex Nevada Republican chairperson, Lowden polls 51% over Harry Reid who has 38% of the vote. (10% of the people are not sure, or vote- other)

Businessman Danny Tarkanian (republican) has 50% of the vote, Reid 37%, with 13% not sure.

Assemblywomen Sharron Angle (also republican) has 46% to Harry Reid’s 38%.

Any one of these three republicans could beat Harry Reid, as it stands right now.

For this example, let’s use the current leader: Sue Lowden, to make this easy.

Lowden leads Reid in the polls by 51% to 38%. If all of the undecided voters were to vote for Reid- 10% (which would NEVER happen), Reid would still lose, and Reid would be gone from politics.

This would be the END of the story for Harry Reid, except for...

The Tea Party movement has filed a “Certificate of Existence” for a third party in Nevada, and they are going to run Jon Ashjian as their candidate.

When polled, 13% of Nevada voters claim to be in, or have attended a Tea Party rally.

If the Tea Party can steal 10% of the republican votes, and Harry Reid picks up a few undecided voters...

Harry Reid will win.

The Tea Party will give the victory to Harry Reid.



I really wish that this Nevada Senate race was some type of early election, but it isn’t. You can tell people this stuff, but they are never going to learn it until they see it with their own eyes.

It is a shame...

A movement like the Tea Party, who’s goal was to lower federal spending and high taxation, to make congress more aware of the federal intrusions on personal freedom, a movement like this could actually help democrats win elections; it actually makes me sick.

Rush Limbaugh said it best, (and I am paraphrasing) Rush said: “I am not one who buys into conspiracies. But, this anti-republican, anti-democrat movement sure smells like a deception to me. I can’t prove it, but we will see.”

Yes Rush, we will see.

(NOTE) I have been very tough on the political Right with my last three editorials, and I apologize for that. Being a conservative, it is not my nature to go against the political Right. However, I believe that the current democrat party is the biggest threat to American freedom that I have seen in my lifetime.

The only thing that could hinder the removal of democrat politicians is a third political party.

And that is why this topic is so important to me. However, I plan on moving to a different topic this weekend.



On another topic

With two more crashes recently involving Toyota cars randomly speeding up on their own, this problem is not going away. It is reported that 10 cars that had the “recall problem” fixed by Toyota dealers, have had the same problem again. (One just took place in France, as I was writing this.)



Toyota will not admit that they have a problem with the electrical system in their cars. They believe that it is a mechanical system failure, (floor mats, etc.)

I still stick with my opinion on Toyota in the editorial that I wrote, called: “Progressives are trying to kill you with a Toyota.” In that editorial, I point to an electrical system called: “Electronic Throttle Control” as a possible cause of the problem.

WHY..??

If this problem were mechanical in nature, (floor mats sticking, etc) the gas peddle would stick in one position and stay there.

But that isn’t what is happening in some cases.

Some of these Toyota’s are at a standstill, when all of a sudden the car takes off at a high rate of speed without the driver stepping on the gas peddle at all. This would indicate a malfunction of the computer system.

One way or another, you Tea Party people will be branded “violent extremists”, and you WILL be taken down.



When you went to sleep last night, did you ever think that you would wake up this morning and be considered a radical..??

Almost as soon as John Patrick Bedell died in the hospital, after trying to kill Pentagon Guards,(because he was angry with Pentagon secrets and lies), people were trying to link this mad-man with the Right.

“John Bedell was a libertarian, he believed that the US government killed it’s own people on 9/11.”

Well, I do not know of any conservatives who believe that 9/11 was an inside job. But there are a few libertarians who do.

When some people on the Left are talking about the Tea Party movement, they are beginning to include names like John Bedell (who last week, tried to kill people at the Pentagon) and Joe Stack, (who flew his plane into an IRS building.)

Tea Party people, you are to blame for every bad thing. You are trying to kill President Obama.

So, there I was reading the New York Times, an editorial by the “token” conservative David Brooks. (No offence, Mr. Brooks, I was a “token” conservative at a newspaper too. Writing “just Right enough” to be excepted by conservatives. However, not too Right; so the liberals at the newspaper do not get nervous.)



David Brooks makes the mistake of comparing Tea Party members of today, to the protest hippies of the 1960's.

OK, I am going to leave that topic alone for now, Hippies are the same as Tea Party people (???)

It was the comment section from progressive New York Times readers that was the most telling.

I just love the fact that progressives are proud that President Clinton taxed Americans SO MUCH MONEY that he ended up with a surplus. This is nothing to be proud of. Remember, the federal government should- “never have more money than it needs, or need more money than it has.”)

(Michael must have learned about the 1960's Hippies from a teacher. Michael, dude: SEX, drugs, Rock and Roll. “Tune in, turn on, and drop out”. “Principled individuals” is not a good phase to use when describing Hippies. It was all about freedom, Baby. “Do not judge other people.” Take your principals and shove them where the sun doesn’t shine. Along with all your little labels. Principals were rules for the establishment to lead their lambs. Hippies had an “anything goes” attitude. Live, and let live. )

There was a little partying takig place back then, Michael.



This is how they will do it, folks. They will rewrite history and display you as the radical, not to be taken serious.

Because of the fact that each of these recent killers could be ideologically linked to the far-Left, or the far Right; no creditable “Mainstream” media source will dare to compare Joe Stack and John Bedell to the average Tea Party person.



However, the media will not have to do that. Bloggers, talk show callers, and comments on the Internet will do the job quite well.

Once the Tea Party movement has been branded a radical- violent- extreme group; no politician (with a chance of winning an election) will have anything to do with the Tea Party movement.




Angry, (and rightly so) from being accused of being killers. (A crime that the Tea Party did NOT commit), loyal Tea Party members will search for a third party candidate. This will split the republican / conservative vote, and...

President Obama will win the 2012 election with ease.



The stage has been set.

All you have to do is walk out on stage and read your lines.

What other wacky conspiracies do you want to accuse President Obama of..??

We need a few more crazy conspiracies because we were almost starting to sound lucid.

I hate to leave an editorial with no answers. I never claim to have all the answers, and I can be wrong. But I believe that our solution can be found easy enough.



I like Glenn Beck and he is an important figure in politics. However, the time has passed for conspiracy theories about president Obama. (It might make for great TV ratings, but does nothing to win elections.)

Right now, we need to push the Left against the wall and use facts to prove that Obama is wrong.

For example, The Huffington Post is a great place to find out what is pissing liberals and progressives off. Today, progressives are mad as hell because the US nuclear budget passed, but congress cannot pass the health care bill. Obama promised to end the wars. What happened..?? Is he now building the military up? Why can’t Obama use his vocal muscle to push health care?



We need to focus on Obama’s campaign promises, compared to what he is actually doing as president. This is the surest way to victory.

I cannot say this enough: Do not freaking worry about who will lead the Right in the 2012 election. (Will it be a Tea Party person? How about a conservative? Maybe a libertarian?) It doesn’t freaking matter right now. We have two freaking years to decide.

People, you are falling for the oldest trick in the book. Divide and conquer.



Focus in on local elections and pick the people who you believe will represent you the best.

Target the democrats by using facts, not conspiracies. Obama is NOT doing what he promised he would do for the people who voted for him. It should be very easy to make Obama a one term president.

(Note) This editorial was not written for (or about) any blogger at this web site. To be honest, I haven’t been able to visit many of your sites lately, because of my work. This article was aimed at a national level. Trends that I am seeing across this country.
